To inspire and promote education in the trades for today and in the future
The annual award amounts and the number of scholarships available will be determined by the AHML Foundation Board of Directors. Scholarship award funds will only be sent directly to the financial aid department of the school the applicant will attend. The scholarship award shall be applied to tuition, fees, and textbooks
Candidates will be students in District 214
Recent High School Graduate (age 17-25) and those on track to graduate in the Spring of 2024.
Candidates interested in pursuing a career in the trades (examples: plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, machining, welding, etc) that require advanced training other than a 4 year degree.
The candidate will complete the Makerplace Scholarship application that includes a letter of recommendation and a couple of short essays on why they should be selected to receive the scholarship.
Staff, directors, and officers of AHML and the AHML Foundation or members of the selection committees as well as their children and relatives are ineligible.
To assist students entering the trades with financial assistance to complete their education
The scholarship committee is comprised of members of the Board of Directors of the AHML Foundation and community members.
Completed and eligible applications are evaluated by the scholarship committee
Successful applicants will be recognized in the Daily Herald, and in AHML communications including facebook.com/AHML Foundation. Scholarship recipients should submit a photo and signed release form for external communication
